PRC-Sindh Celebrated International Volunteers Day 2017

The Youth and Volunteer Department of Pakistan Red Crescent – Sindh Provincial Branch celebrated International Volunteers Day and awarded the best volunteers at an event arranged at the Thakur Rashid Gohar Training Institute of PRC, Sindh Karachi.

The theme of the event for IVD 2017 was ‘The Volunteers Act First. Here. Everywhere’. The event appreciated the contributions of volunteers worldwide to make a change in the world with their effective contributions.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Mr. Abdul Nasir Baloch Additional Director South, Social Welfare Department Government of Sindh praised the role of volunteers. He emphasized that volunteerism has no price and is a selfless profession. He further talked about to learn from the examples of the Prophet (PBUH) to contribute to humanity.

The event was attended by Mr. Kanwar Waseem Provincial Secretary of Pakistan Red Crescent, Sindh, Mr. Atif Hussain Youth & Volunteer Officer, Mr. Anwar Siddiqui, Prof. Dr. Adbul Malik.

Mr. Waseem highlighted the problems associated with the voluntary work in the society. Quoting Dr. Abdus Salam, he said that if you can’t change the world then change your habits, the world will automatically change. He appreciated the work of volunteers who despite challenges in the society are willing to contribute to betterment of humanity.

The event concluded with a thanks note by Atif Hussain and he appreciated the work of the volunteers at PRC-Sindh.

The Chief Guest awarded shields and certificates to the best volunteers at the end of the ceremony. More than 100 volunteers, staff and social welfare activists attended the event.
