Pakistan Red Crescent Society provides relief items to rain affected communities in Pakistan

The work of the Red Crescent is highly commendable, this relief work will be carried forward, Governor of Sindh Imran Ismail

Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has today distributed relief items including food parcels, water filters, tarpaulin sheets, jerry cans, buckets and kitchen sets, etc, among 550 flood-affected families of Orangi Town in Karachi. The distribution ceremony was attended by Governor of Sindh Imran Ismail, Chairman PRCS National Headquarters (NHQ) Abrar-ul-Haq, and Chairman PRCS-Sindh Mrs. Shahnaz S. Hamid.

On the occasion, Provincial President of PRCS-Sindh and Sindh Governor Imran Ismail said that the work of Red Crescent is very commendable and this relief work will be taken forward. I thank the Red Crescent on my behalf and on behalf of the people.

Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club, Chairman PRCS Abrar-ul-Haq said that rains have broken the 90-year record in Karachi and caused a flood-like situation in Sindh and Balochistan provinces, especially the urban flooding in Karachi and Hyderabad. He further said that PRCS as a leading humanitarian organization of the country, has been in action from day one to help people struck by the calamity. “Our volunteers and trained Emergency Response Force (ERF) members of PRCS-Sindh and Balochistan branches have been in the field to help people stranded due to blocked roads and submerged houses for their rescue and evacuation to safer places as well as provision of necessary medical aid in coordination with relevant stakeholders”, Chairman uttered. Abrar-ul-Haq announced that the PRCS had stepped up its relief efforts in response to the recent monsoon rains in Pakistan, and also prepared a strategy to extend assistance to 6,500 more families in terms of the provision of cash and other relief items in Sindh and KP. Chairman further said that PRCS is also providing cash assistance of Rs 10,500 per household to 2,500 families and 10,000 hygiene kits to the affected people in Dadu, Jhal Magsi, and Jafferabad. In addition, Water Treatment Plants are also installed in Dadu and Jhal Magsi to provide 30,000 liters clean drinking water per day to the flood-affected people population, he added.

While distributing the relief items to the rain-affected communities in the area of Orangi Town in Karachi, Chairman PRCS-Sindh Mrs. Shahnaz S. Hamid said that PRCS volunteers rescued more than 500 people, including children and the elderly, provided first aid to 100 injured, and helped 200 vehicles stranded during the rains in all districts of Karachi. She added that the ERF team also restored the family connection of a child who went missing in Baldia Town during the rains. “In addition, our volunteers also saved an elderly woman from drowning in District West,” she added. Mrs. Shahnaz further said that PRCS-Sindh with the support of German Red Cross has distributed 800 food parcels in Karachi. She uttered that relief items including hygiene kits for the rain-affected people in Sindh province were also handed over to the district branches of PRCS. Mrs. Shahnaz repeated that PRCS-Sindh has started a free COVID-19 test facility in Karachi. Besides, the cash grants and food assistance also provided to COVID affected families. The efforts of the PRCS will continue until the deadly virus is defeated.

Kanwar Waseem, Provincial Secretary, PRCS Sindh, said that every volunteer and staff of Pakistan Red Crescent is available to help the vulnerable, weak and deserving people of our society in any kind of emergency.

ہلالِ احمر کی بارشوں سے متاثرہ 550 گھرانوں کیلئے امدادی پیکج کی تقسیم

ہلالِ احمر پاکستان نے کراچی میں بارشوں سے متاثرہ 550 گھرانوں میں فوڈ پارسل، واٹر فلٹرز، ترپالیں، جیری کین، بالٹیاں اور کچن میں استعمال ہونے والے برتن وغیرہ تقسیم کیے۔ یہ تقسیم اورنگی ٹاون میں کی گئی۔ تقریب میں گورنر سندھ عمران اسماعیل، چیئرمین ہلالِ احمر پاکستان ابرار الحق، چیئرپرسن سندھ برانچ محترمہ شہناز حامدصاحبہ نے شرکت کی۔

اِس موقع پر گورنر سندھ عمران اسماعیل نے کہا کہ ہلال ِاحمر کا کام بہت لائق تحسین ہے، اِس امدادی کام کو آگے بڑھایا جائے گا۔ رضاکاروں کا کام وہ کام ہے جو اللہ اپنے پسندیدہ لوگوں سے لیتا ہے۔ یہ کام کسی عام آدمی کے بس کی بات نہیں، میں اپنی طرف سے اور عوام کی جانب سے ہلالِ احمر کا شکریہ ادا کرتا ہوں،  میں ہلالِ احمر کے اقدامات کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کرتا ہوں۔اس سے قبل امدادی سامان کی فراہمی سے متعلق چیئرمین ہلالِ احمر پاکستان جناب ابرار الحق نے پریس کانفرنس کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ کراچی میں حالیہ بارشوں نے 90 سالہ ریکارڈ توڑ دیا ہے۔ ایسی ہی سنگین صورتحال بلوچستان اور خیبرپختونخوا میں بھی ہے۔ ہلا لِ احمر ہمیشہ کی طرح اِس بار بھی متاثرین بارش و سیلاب کی بھرپور مدد و تعاون کیلئے صفِ اوّل میں کھڑا ہے۔ ہمارے رضاکار اور تربیتیافتہ ریسپانس ٹیمیں متاثرہ علاقوں میں مصروفِ کار ہیں۔ سندھ اور بلوچستان کی شاخیں متحرک ہیں اور متاثرہ گھرانوں کی مدد کررہی ہیں۔ ابرار الحق نے کہا کہ ہلالِ احمر نے سندھ اور خیبرپختونخوا کے مزید 6500 گھرانوں تک امداد پہنچانے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے۔ اِن گھرانوں کو نقد مالی مدد کے ساتھ ساتھ دیگر اشیاءضروریہ بھی مہیا کی جائیں گی۔ انہوں نے ایک سوال کے جواب میں کہا کہ ہلال ِاحمر دادو، جھل مگسی اور جعفرآباد میں 2500 متاثرہ گھرانوں میں فی کس 10,500 روپے نقد بھی تقسیم کرے گا اور 10 ہزار ہائی جین کِٹس بھی مہیا کی جائیں گی۔انہوں نے کہا دادو اور جھل مگسی میں واٹر ٹریٹمنٹ پلانٹس نصب کردیئے گئے ہیں۔ اِن پلانٹس سے مجموعی طور پر 60 ہزار لٹر پینے کا صاف پانی روزانہ کے حساب سے مہیا کیا جائے گا۔اِس سے قبل اورنگی ٹاون میں امدادی اشیاءکی تقسیم کے موقع پر سندھ برانچ کی چیئرپرسن شہناز ایس حامد کا کہنا تھا کہ ہلالِ احمر متاثرہ گھرانوں کے ساتھ ہے۔ہمارے رضاکاروں نے 500 سے زائد افراد کو سیلابی پانی سے نکال کر محفوظ مقامات تک پہنچایا۔اِن افراد میں بچے اور ضعیف العمر لوگ بھی شامل تھے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ 100 سے زائد زخمی ہو جانے والوں کو ابتدائی طبّی امداد بھی فراہم کی۔ شہناز ایس حامد نے کہا کہ بلدیہ ٹاون میں اپنے گھر والوں سے بچھڑ جانے والے بچے کو بھی اُس کے خاندان سے ملایا اور ایک ضعیف العمر عورت کو ڈوبنے سے بچایا۔ ہمارے رضاکاروں نے قابلِ ستائش امدادی کام کیے۔ہم نے جرمن ریڈکراس کے تعاون سے 800 فوڈ پارسل بھی تقسیم کیے۔ سندھ برانچ نے متاثرہ گھرانوں کیلئے امدادی اشیاءاور ہائیجین کِٹس ضلعی برانچوں کے حوالے کردی ہیں۔ اِس موقع پر صوبائی سیکرٹری ہلالِ احمر جناب کنور وسیم کا کہنا تھا کہ ہلالِ احمر نے سیلاب اور بارش کے متاثرین کی مدد کوئی کسر اُٹھا نہیں رکھی ہمارا ہر ایک رضاکار اور کارکن متاثرہ، کمزور اور مستحق کی مدد و تعاون کیلئے کسی بھی قدرتی آفت یاایمرجنسی میں ہمہ وقت موجود ہے۔
